What is believable??

It's winter, and dark brooding clouds fill the horizon. But driving home in the early morning light, I notice a glow lightly bronzing their edges and splaying out around them. And those clouds partly hidden behind become transformed into a watery amber. It's very pretty in its own way! Especially when you see it's reflection in a ribbon of puddle on the dark road ahead. I was wishing I could have taken a photo, but for that you'd need a passenger with quick reflexes, and probably a good editing tool to frame and represent the beauty I saw, adequately.

It moved my mind to how much we use editing programs today! We edit our profile shots - sometimes to the point where we are barely recognisable! We can place ourselves in a scene we've never been to! And eliminate a lot of distracting clutter to make a shot far more dramatic! I've often come across photos these days that look totally amazing - and then wondered if they could possibly be real.

That's the trouble these days. It's so hard to know what can be believed! There's conflicting information about what you should include in your diet. What's considered wonderfully nutritious one day, appears to be the source of all our problems the next! News broadcasting seems to be all about sensationalism rather than actually sharing true facts - without bias. We are very media fed - but everything we read we find questionable. Advertising tries to inform us that a product is just what we need, but we know that so many are just sales gimmicks. And it's so hard to know if profile information offered is even close to reality!

We are bombarded with so much dubious information that it becomes very difficult to believe anything! And so we find it easy to drift into cynicism and general distrust. We don't believe it unless we can see it or experience it ourselves!

In such an environment, it becomes very hard to share something like God, who, to me, is really good and worth sharing, but is totally unprovable! In the end, all I can do is tell my story, and let people make of it what they will.

I can tell you that in him I've found every single value that gives my life focus and direction and meaning. All these characteristics I admire - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness - make up the essence of who he is. And he makes me want to be an expression of them. He is the source of all that is good in my life, and I have never regretted that my life is his.

And I'd love to show you how real he is! But I have no proof to offer you. That is something you can only find for yourself. If you take the time to seek him out, he will show himself to you. And he's better than anything you many have been told.
