Held Whole

As I was praying this morning a beautiful image came into my mind. I have always seen myself as a broken vessel that God had loved into wholeness like the beautiful golden "glue" that welds pieces reformed by Japanese kintsugi masters. This morning I saw something more.
I am that vessel, held together by the beauty of him - but that wholeness only exists while I am held by him. That is why I need to constantly come and place myself in his hands! Because it is only then that I can be whole. And it is only then that my broken pieces do not cause harm to others.
Every day I come to him and give my life to him. Then through each day he holds me into wholeness. A vessel of life and love that can pour out his goodness to others. Without that, I am still the broken pieces that can cut those I contact.
