The Takeover

It frustrates me that the poorer nature and responses in me keep rearing their ugly head. I would so love to be "cured" from them - forever! In some ways, I've wished that belonging to God could be kind of like "demon possession" where they completely take over and you're under their control - but in a good way, controlled by the Holy Spirit! Then I'd just display all those beautiful "fruits" of his character (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control - Galatians 5:22,23), and none of the ugly ones I show sometimes.

But God let me know he doesn't work that way. His way is a constant "tuning in". A deliberate and focused awareness of him and his beautiful character that slowly and gently transforms us! None of the harsh abruptness of demonic takeover. That is simply not his way! We become completely his by a constant and willing giving of ourselves to him. And just being freely his within each moment, aware of his beauty and goodness, we are transformed into a better reflection of him.
