The Fairytale...
It reads a bit like a Tolkien/Lewis fairytale.
God made the most beautiful and perfect world.
Filled it with fascinating creatures!
And then placed mankind in the role of caretaker.
And the ones who should have been the protectors of all living things,
became the portal
through which a deadly curse came.
The thing is, that curse didn't just affect the ones who made the code to let it in!
Yes, it has infected all of us,
decaying the fabric of our bodies and poisoning our relationships,
so that chaos and misery seem to follow
wherever we go.
It seems a direct consequence
for us who chose another path
than that shown as good to us.
We broke our connection with God,
so we feel the darkness of that curse.
But the result was much more far reaching!
Not only are we stained with the darkness and struggling,
but every living thing on this earth under our care has also become trapped in its grip.
All creation here is slowly dying.
The world which God created
and loved for its beauty and 'good'ness,
is discoloured and fading.
It seems strange that our poor choice led to these innocent creations wearing 'death' also.
The curse covers all.
A new, unforgiving prince rules here.
And he is determined to spoil everything God created 'good'.
He's like a spoilt child wanting to smash every favorite toy belonging to a rival.
But...
"God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will have eternal life." John 3:16 (paraphrased)
God made a way to restore it.
His only son broke the curse with his life blood.
And soon he'll be back to reclaim it all.
And all things will be made fresh and new.
Untainted by the curse which broke it.
It reads like a fairytale.
But perhaps those Tolkien/Lewis tales we read
are the unwritten knowings of our hearts.
