I see a world out there that is struggling. And covid with it's isolations and separations has not improved it! Depression and anxiety levels throughout society are high! And sufferers are using all sorts of remedies - medications, psychotherapy, alcohol, illicit drugs, suicides and self-injury.
The last one baffles me. I don't remember this in my growing years. I did some research - apparently it only became a mainstream phenomenon in the early 2000's when the media brought it to our attention as the way the alternative rock and punk cultures had been dealing with their pain. As always, society's rebels appeal to the youth of the day. It has become a common way to deal with pain.
I guess it's a bit like how Dencorub works - the brain is distracted from one pain, by another, more acutely noticeable one. The problem is, these distractions never last. And it's not long before you're dealing with the original misery again, and looking for the next "distraction".
There's only one thing I know of that deals with pain like this permanently. Jesus takes that pain upon himself - and gently leads you along a path of healing, filling you with limitless love, and teaching you that while you might think you are nothing, you are worth his very life-blood. As you begin to see who you are in his eyes, your beauty begins to shine. And the pain you've been struggling with fades away.
If you feel like you're drowning in pain where you are, reach out and grab the hand that promises to lift you up! He never fails.
