Light of heaven,
Most beautiful of all who exist -
That you should have endured
The worst we had to offer,
Even death itself,
Stands in abhorrent incongruity.
It will never sit easy with me -
That the purity of you
Took on the rot of us
To break us free of it!
It breaks my heart.
You knew without it
We had no hope.
So that love which is you
Drove with impassioned focus
Through that horror darkness
To the light beyond!
Never letting go of that vision!
And bought us the life
