Rescue...

I have a group called Destiny Rescue that I have been supporting since learning about what they do on a trip to Cambodia a few years back. I know there are many others like it, set up to release prisoners of exploitation, and give them a chance at a better life!

Many of these enslaved ones were lured there with promises of a great future and secure employment. Others were simply stolen. But I doubt any would have chosen their path, had they known what was really ahead of them. Once trapped, it takes effort to win their trust in order to lead them to break free. These groups only make small inroads into the vastness of slavery that exists today, but for those they manage to release, their whole world changes.

It reminded me of our big story. We were born to live in love. But looking out from our safe place, everything else looked much more exciting! Instead of having to live out love towards others, we wanted the freedom to live for ourselves!

So we sold ourselves out to another, who offered such "freedom" - not realising that we were selling ourselves into slavery! To addiction, greed, self-serving habits - always seeking that high of satisfaction that we thought we had seen there. It was always elusive. Always disappointing. The "freedom" we sought was an illusion.

And then the impossible happened! The one who gave us life - the very one from whom we had run - paid the highest price to buy us back! Back to a life where satisfaction was real. Where love was a way of life, lived for the good of each other. Back to the heart of the one who loved us most.

Even though he knew only some would understand and come, he paid for each and every one! Because each and every one of you is precious to him. And he wants you to have the chance - even if you decide not to take it.
