Real Connection

There are many things we do as Christians in an effort to be who God wants us to be. We go to church each week. We participate in the programs. We make music about how awesome he is. We actively become part of his growing family here, developing connections with those involved. We tell stories that show how good he is. We help with community care projects. We join in formal group discussions to better understand our roles. We read books designed to help us do life in a more God-like manner. One of those is the Bible, which we search through to try and see who God really is, and what he really wants from us. We grasp onto some of those verses to use as support for when life gets tough.

All of these things are good in their own way. All of them help develop relationships - which is what God is all about! Both with those around us, and with him. But while these things teach us ABOUT him, the thing that connects us most directly to him, is when we seek him out in prayer. Not just with beautifully created words, carefully prepared for presentation to him! But with a heart laid bare with longing to know him! With a mind that begs to belong more closely than ever before! With fears and failures and hurts poured out with absolute honesty - a heart that is real before him. When you come to him from the deepest places of your soul, seeking to connect and feel him close, speaking to him as you would share with your closest, most trusted friend, then you develop a relationship with him that is close and deep and strong. That will never let you go! That will hold you when all of those other things are gone! Are you seeking him that way? He has promised - if you seek him, with all your heart, you will find him!
