I come,
pressured by chores
weighing upon me -
the day's activities very present.
And he tells me to stop...
breathe...
let go...
and feel his presence.
My shoulders release
from their unnoticed tension.
I quiet...
and notice life around me.
The coffee cup nests warm in my hands.
The air is crisply cool.
Puffs of cloud in shades of grey and cream
waft gently across the clear blue above me.
A magpie warble breaks through the stillness.
Paling shades of gold tinge the foliage
as the sun moves slowly upwards along its pathway.
The shadows follow obligingly.
I hear the roof creak as the warmth brings expansion.
A crow caws its mournful sadness.
The neighbours just across my fence
quietly sort the morning's needs.
A flock of lorikeets excitedly chatter
their way through the sky.
My cat purrs contentedly in my lap.
And my puppies sniff out
the nights activities on the lawn.
I am quiet now.
And grounded.
And ready to hear my God.
