(Such a precious day for those of us who have loved and lost...)
Now it was Sunday.
Sabbath rest had ended.
The day was dawning - another somber one.
The women gathered their burial herbs and spices and headed to the gravesite, to attend to the broken body of the one they so loved. They knew it was dangerous, showing their faces in the community, as known followers of his - so they hurried there in the semi-dark. They could not bear to think of him lying there without the proper burial care - and this was the first chance they'd had to be able to do something for him.
But something was different about this hope that had died.
It had a life of its own!!
Soon the patter of running steps retraced their earlier path - their first intent forgotten!! Minds filled with excited confusion, the women raced to share some incredible news!! News so unbelievable, the men heard it as hysterical babbling!! Until they too saw - with shocked belief!!!
This hope that had died was now very much alive!!!
Death no longer held him!!!
And this unbelievable happening came with a promise and gift!! To any and all who died under his banner, his victory would now become theirs!! The stark reality of life ending as a hole in the ground, no longer had to be!!!
The one they thought had come to set Israel free, had done something much greater!!!
He had set humanity free!!!
If they would only take it... ❤️
