In the beginning, when God created mankind, he made them in his "image". Now I'm not sure that we were made to "look like" him. It's more likely that we were made a reflection of his beautiful character and personality! Male and female - created in his image. Each with attributes of who God is.
Now we mostly see God as "he", and that's the way he's addressed throughout scripture. And Jesus came to this earth in male form. So maybe that's his dominant personality? But there is a definite and beautiful affinity that Jesus showed with the females in his world! And that connection with our creation in Genesis reminds us that this side of who he is is represented in our women! And should be loved and respected as a beautiful expression of who he is - just as the male characteristics are!
It is all part of who he is! He is not the strong, protective, provider of the male alone! He is also the comforting, nurturing, encourager of the female!! All of those attributes together, provide the most whole environment for our children to flourish! For together they represent the beautiful wholeness of who he is!!!
