The story is told of a woman who turned to look back at the wreck of a life she was leaving behind, and became a pillar of salt. (Gen 19)
We all have a past. Some of it is not very pretty. And while it all contributes to who we are today, and we can "learn from our mistakes", there are things that we will never be able to make sense of by dwelling on, or there may be nothing new to glean from them. Looking back, and focusing on the pain of our past can steal from us the joy that should be ours today!
We are told that we can retrain our mental pathways by redirection. If we constantly make the effort to redirect our mind to positive things when it wants to drift to negative ones, there comes a time when that is the natural path it will take.
When the darkness of your past tries to drag you in, remember this - you are loved! You are precious! You have been set free to live from this moment forward! So seize this moment of this day! Leave the past where it belongs - and live vibrantly now!
