A friend of mine takes beautiful photos. In particular, I love the way she captures light as it changes a landscape. Recently, she posted a new photo she'd taken, but it wasn't so much the picture, but what she said that captured my attention. She said "Love the light shining on the one little naked tree. Made it sparkle more than the ones with leaves." It intrigued my lesson seeking mind 😄.
I've found a few things in it, but the one I love the most is this... We cover our selves in many ways to make ourselves attractive. We use clothing fashions, makeup and hairstyles to enhance us, making sure we add that necessary time at the gym. We take on mannerisms and lifestyles that will be appealing to others. We choose homes and cars that will wow. We entertain, inviting those who fit our chosen style. And much of our motivation in these choices is what will make us attractive in the eyes of others.
Now these things are not wrong in themselves - those beautiful leafy trees look great! But then there's the shine of the little naked tree - the one with everything stripped away. All that outer garnishing is beautiful - but it hides the deeper, inner self. And it's when we allow another to see the real person beneath it all, when our naked soul is revealed, that our beauty shines brightest.
