As humans we generally tend to have good intentions in our lives - but it's very easy to unintentionally cause offence, or to find offence in the actions or words of another. Often over very little things, which, if we stand back from, and find a bit of perspective, we shake our heads at why we thought they were big enough to be a problem at all! And those offences usually occur between us and those we love - after all, we expect more from them since they know us best, and know what bothered us. A stranger might be easily forgiven the very same thing. It is a shame that these little things can slowly build then, into large resentments which threaten to strangle what was a beautiful relationship.
This is what happens when we allow darkness to bury the light in us. There is a darkness in this world that works to destroy who we are, and our bonds with those we love - and will, if we let it! God asks us to come to him for love and light and a spirit of forgiveness. He teaches us that the resentments and offences we feel entitled to hold, are actually eating away at the beauty of us, and those we love, and are not worth hanging into. We need to let them go, and the pure light that he is will overcome the darkness, and give us back the beauty of our relationships.
