(OK. This post is going to appear argumentative to many. I am not that person. And it is not meant that way. It's just meant to invoke thought... so to any of my friends who think otherwise, please don't be offended. Just thought leading ... ❤)
People interpret the Bible as saying that the Ten Commandments are done away with at the cross, when it is really the penalty for breaking the law that is done away with for those who accept his payment. Every other law is still considered acceptable and an expression of loving God and others as intended - except the Sabbath law. For some reason, that one, it seems, is ok to redefine.
Think over each of the other laws - and realise God still wants us to do each one of them. They are all summed up in - love God with everything in you, and those around you like you love yourself! The Sabbath law is unique in that is appears to have no moral reason. It can appear arbitrary. But like any of the Ten Commandments, it is not. It is a statement and understanding of the recognition of God's position in our creation and redemption - a day chosen by him, for us to be reminded of those things. And we should not think it ok just to change it.
