I don't know why this day is called "Good Friday".
There are a few possible reasons given.
But to me it would have to be the darkest day in our history.
It was the day we allowed evil to use us to inflict the worst horror and pain it could invent, in an all-in attempt to break the man who was on a mission to save us.
Every possible mental and physical assault was poured out on him, to destroy our only chance of freedom.
And he earned none of it!
He was perfect and pure in everything he did!
But the guilt of every single life on earth weighed heavily on him.
His Father did not force this from him.
This was a gift.
Together they had planned a way out for us.
And he struggled along that path for us, never losing sight of its goal!
He could have withdrawn from the fight at any point! He could have taken hold of his godly powers, smashed his oppressors and set himself free!
But he did not.
Because we needed this.
Our darkest day.
We hung life and love and goodness on that cross. That's what evil does.
Thank God the story did not end here!
Earth's darkest day would soon be shattered by brightest light!!
