This morning's driving to work thoughts...
We need to be careful as Christians, that we do not get complacent about being "saved" because we have chosen him. Long ago, in Jesus' day, the Jews made that mistake. They believed they were "saved" because they were "Abraham's children" and the "chosen ones". But they'd lost their intended identity.
When Peter stepped out of the boat to walk on waves, it was an act of faith! An act of trust in Jesus to keep him lifted up! He believed! But when he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on what was happening around him, he sank, like any human would.
We have a battle raging all around us! We get casual about it because we can't see it! But without our focus firmly fixed on Jesus throughout our days, we will sink, like anyone else.
We are not "saved" simply because we call ourselves a Christian. Our hope exists only in a deep and strong and constant connection. Don't be complacent. Keep your focus on Jesus. You can't afford to let it slip...
