Childish innocence.

I was thinking about the difference in attitude between children and adults - the innocent trust and joy in a child, compared with the cynicism and stressed demeanour of an adult. And it seems to me like that is what eating of the fruit of "the knowledge of good and evil" does to you. We begin as sweet, innocent children of God, and become slowly poisoned by "knowing". And we are saddened by the innocence lost.

The desire to "know", which is something that drives us since Eden, does not necessarily bring us the satisfaction we are looking for. We find as adults, that that "knowledge", brings with it pain, and disappointment, and saps the vitality and joy we are born with. And we look with longing again, at the innocence of the child.
