I was watching the grey clouds moving across our skies this morning, bringing with them the showers forecast all day. Even in their 'greyness', there was beauty - with their different shades and overlapping billows. And scattered between those rain clouds, here and there, a glimpse of blue shone through.
It reminded me of something I'd skimmed over in reading recently, but which I was obviously meant to pay attention to since it had settled in my brain only just out of sight, and had now popped up for viewing 😄.
Sometimes in life, it seems all we can see are those grey clouds. They can be somber, dark and foreboding, even oppressive. They hang so close to us, filling our vision, often not even allowing us those glimpses of blue. But those dark clouds are only temporary. They move on at the whim of the wind - or evaporate under the persistence of the sun. They can't remain - as suffocating as they may seem at times.
But the sun does remain! As do the blue skies beyond those clouds! The grey might attempt to shut them out - but it cannot!!! Sooner or later they are overcome, and the blue shows itself once more.
So if you are in a season of grey right now, don't let its oppressiveness smother you!! Know that it cannot last!! It's the blue skies and sun that will outlast them!! Just hang onto the knowledge that, though you may not see them right now - they are still there!!! And you will see them again soon.
