I've never known love like this. The expression of love, as we know it, is variable - sometimes overwhelming and bubbling over, but just as easily, reserved and measured out. It is given in response to the deserving - so it is just as easily withdrawn. Sometimes it is lavishly given. Sometimes very sparingly. And we may need to beg with our humblest behaviours in order to receive that love that we crave. We humans are fragile in our emotions. And when we feel hurt by another's poor expression of love to us, we quickly move to defend ourselves, retreating behind barriers of indifference and rejection. How quickly relationships can be destroyed this way. Protecting our selves from pain. Imagine a love that never changed, despite what we did or said. A love that was strong, and generous, and always yours. A love that constantly built you up. Never pierced your heart. A love that continually held you, nurtured you. Filled up your deepest need. Sounds incredible! And beyond what's real, right? It doesn't exist. No one can give love that way. It isn't a safe way to love! I'm here to tell you that that love does exist!!! And it's why I'm so in love with him!!! And why is this love so constant and unchanging?? Because God IS love!!! Pure and simple. He never changes because he cannot be otherwise! His love is pure and deep and real and constant, and will never be taken from you. Even when you decide he's not for you, his love for you still exists. You just leave a hole in his heart! If you've found that the love offered in this world wounds your heart more often than heals it, look for THIS love. It will never bring you harm. It will only hold and lift you. I know it to be true.
