Priceless

Just over a year ago now, someone smeared a cupcake across the face of the world-adored Mona Lisa, creating an instant uproar! It's not the first time it has been attacked! It's had shards of glass damage from a hurled teacup, and acid thrown at it. Each time, it has been met with a tirade of horrified indignation! And rightly so!!! It is a priceless, irreplaceable work of art, that should be blessing the eyes of those who seek out its beauty, for generations to come! It is precious. And for that reason, we protect it!

Of course, it's not the only beautiful artefact to be targeted. Vandals take pleasure in destroying beauty. Like the Pieta, by Michelangelo shown below - badly damaged by such a senseless act. How carefully its protectors worked on it to restore its beauty.

We are admirers of beauty. It is precious to us. So are the expressions of beauty, exhibited in works of art created in exclusively by the individuality of each artist. No-one can create a new artwork, exactly as anyone else would. It is an expression of their uniqueness as an person which will never be replicated through time!

We cherish such beauty. And the ability to create! Both are born within us. Because we were made as a reflection of the greatest of creators! The one who first loved beauty and the ability to create!!! He has made the most exquisite works of art all around and in us! Much of which we have become oblivious to in its familiarity.

There has been no artist through time who can compare with his works! And the horror he must have felt as his masterpieces became smeared and corrupted, I don't think we can ever grasp. But his need to heal and restore it to its beauty was so great, that he paid a price greater than has ever been known, to buy it back!

One day, the darkness that has marred his gorgeous artwork, will be removed forever. No trace will remain to taint it again. And it will be a gift to all who treasure the beauty of his creation restored.
