Holding a little goldfish body taught me something.
Death transforms what was living into something grotesque. That is why we don't like to see it. Living things are beautiful because of the life in them. God made us in his image - male and female. Both with different aspects of his character - and both beautiful in his image. Because everything in his character is beautiful. His ways are the ways of life and harmony.
When Satan brought selfishness into this world, the life in us began to die. The more that selfishness rules us, the more we become gross caricatures of the beautiful creatures God meant us to be. And in death we become grotesque to him too! We become the opposite of the beauty he created.
His heart ached for his spoiled creation. He had to find a way to restore us to what we were meant to be, so his Son took on that grotesque form, in order to breathe life back into us. So we can once more be the beautiful creations, filled with life, that he intended.
