I have friends who love to do jigsaw puzzles. 12,320! That's the number of pieces in the largest jigsaw puzzle ever completed! It covered over 6000 square meters! How would you like to attempt that one guys???!! 🤣 I don't know how long it took to complete, but it was undertaken by a government department in Dubai to honour founding father of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed, in 2018.
Imagine the headaches in putting that together!!! It's hard enough working on one that fits on your table so that you can visualise the whole thing as you work on it, but this one was outside of that realm!!!
It's kind of like that, trying to get together a clear picture of who God is. It starts with the complication that he is huge - beyond our imaginations!! And then, one by one, the tiny pieces of understanding begin to drop into place. A lesson dawning in contemplation of something amazing that he's made. A new appreciation of the depth of love and compassion in a "Jesus life" story. A light switched on while reading what someone else may have learned. A thought dropped inside a mind searching to connect with him.
From here and there, the pieces come. And one by one they begin to form the most beautiful picture, that honours our founding Father. It's a portrait of love and power and incredible depth and unfathomable reach! It's a puzzle we'll be finding pieces to for eternity! And each one a thing of beauty!
But unless we take the time to stop and search for them, we will overlook each one on our busy way. And the few pieces that have managed to fall into place in our minds will be scattered and shapeless and uninteresting. It's the time taken in finding those pieces and where they fit, that help us see, tiny bit by tiny bit, a clearer and more beautiful view of who God is.
