There's something called the "Sunk Cost" tendency in us, whereby we will continue to put money and effort into a project which is costing more than it should have, simply because we have already invested so much!! According to much that is written, it is a fallacy which only causes us more loss, and we should cut ties with those things which are demanding beyond what they are worth!
It did make me think though. I look around at the people scurrying through life. Most are completely uninterested in what God is trying to do for them. Satan has done a good job of convincing them, like he did many of the angels, that God is unjust and doesn't deserve our homage. And that's if they believe he exists at all!! I begin to wonder why he still waits. Why he continues to try to reach us.
There is something that convinces me that he won't give up - as long as there is a chance of winning someone! And that is this - no greater price has ever been paid than that which he poured out for us! The cost to him was enormous! That's how much we are worth to him!! And despite the cost already paid, he continues to pour effort into our freedom! And I believe he will do that to the very last opportunity - because He has invested too much in us, to turn away now.
