Why, God?

We pray for healing. It hurts us to see our loved ones in pain. So we pray for their story to change. We pray for that new job for them - so they can be financially secure. We pray for him to provide for our needs here. And all of the time, we are praying for what seems big to us, because these things loom large in front of our faces!

God hears. And God sees. He feels our pain. He wants to give us every good thing! So we can live life to the full!! But he also sees more.

We pray from our limited time capsule. His eyes are on eternity. We pray for gifts that seem huge in our eyes. But in his mind, we are praying for the tiny ones! When he wants to give us the greatest ones!! That's why sometimes he doesn't give us the good gifts we pray for. Because he wants us to need the big ones! Himself!! Depth and connection!! A forever life - undegraded and whole!! The life he meant for us!! That he can't give us unless we desire it!! Because we have to recognise our need for him. For that life.

God sees a much bigger view than we do. He is good. He is love. He is wisdom. And he knows what we need more than anything we think we do. And he knows it is the greater gift. He will answer our prayers in the way that leads us to the greater gift. Because that's what we need most. ❤️
