Numb...

I feel like we're all a little shell-shocked.
A bit numb.
We've been living in this world of turmoil and disaster so long that our eyes have become blind to it.
We turn them to things directly around us that we can actually do something about!
Because we still want hope.
We still want goodness.
So we make it happen with what we can.
Our world becomes the tiny space around us
and we spend our time stomping out fires and purchasing a sense of security where we are.
But we've put the blinkers on to the rest.
Because we don't want to know
what we feel helpless about fixing.
That overwhelms us.
Unfortunately, it does kind of numb us to anything spiritual too.
Because we've locked our eyes on the physical around us.
It takes effort, and time, to begin to open up to the possibility of more.
The thing that worries me is,
what if this numbness is the devil's way of making us oblivious to the life beyond this one.
What if it's his way of trapping us so God doesn't get to take us home. ???
