Reach Up!

I have plenty of time to sit and pray right now 😄. It's a rainy winter's day, but it's lovely sitting here watching the rain fall.
Right in front of me in the garden is a beautiful plant. It had died to just a stump in the harsh summer sun, despite my best attempts to keep it going. We're working on restoring shade to this area so that next summer's sun won't be so destructive here. But as you can see - this lovely thing has burst out of its shell again! Fought its way back to vibrant life!! And I love how it's reaching up to capture the raindrops falling towards it, funnelling them down to its roots where it can draw them in. And those leaves are seeking out the sun's rays, transforming them into the lovely green with which it glows.
It's a beautiful picture of creation reaching out for its maker, who is pouring down his blessings to nourish what he has made. All around I can see creation doing this! And it speaks to me of how our connection with him was meant to be. How he loves to pour out nurture for us, if we would only reach for him!
How lovely we become as he pours himself into us! We were meant to be filled with him! That's how we flourish!! Without him we're just an anaemic form of who we were meant to be.
